Our Vision

PSCS envisions a community of global ambassadors for a philosophy that values kindness, wholeness, and social justice.

What That Means

PSCS is not just a school, but a partnership between staff and families that continues even after a student has graduated. Our program elevates compassion, critical thinking, and self-care, while examining privilege in society. We hope to send alumni out in the world who advocate for equal access to opportunity—both for themselves and for others.

How You Can Help

We make every effort to keep tuition low, knowing that for many, independent education is still a hardship. In order to offer aid and ensure all our families are supported, we seek 100% participation from every current and alum family, at a level that is not a difficulty.

Why We Fundraise

Contributions allow us to keep our costs lower and provide families the opportunity to receive tax benefits from their donations. In order to continue to offer tuition assistance and maintain non-profit status, independent schools must fundraise. Every year, the PSCS administration and board balance our budget as tightly as possible, knowing that tuition does not fully cover our yearly costs. Tuition is used to pay staff, rent, insurance, and program costs. These alone do not cover tuition and program aid and we do not have the endowments that wealthier schools draw from. If we were to raise tuition, we would price many qualified families out of attending PSCS at all.

The PSCS Fundraising Goal

Our 2018-19 Annual Giving campaign goal is $110,000 with donations from 100% of families. Our fiscal year runs from July 1-June 30. Pledges to be paid later in the school year, and recurring monthly gifts, will be counted toward our goal.

Where It All Goes

80-100% of money raised is used to offer tuition and program aid to as many families as we can (the percentage fluctuates some years based on the number of applicants of need).

Whether You Pay Tuition and/or Receive Aid

22% of our families received over $120,000 in aid for the 2018-19 school year. We believe that everyone benefits from a socioeconomically diverse school, whether you receive aid or not. But it’s more than that, when current and alum families donate, you are fully investing in this community, which also excites grant-makers and donors with higher capacity.

The 25th Year Challenge

Since it's our 25th year helping students become self-advocates and critical thinkers, we are asking YOU to consider adding 25% to your donations to PSCS this year. That 25% will then be allocated to tuition aid and will fund a full scholarship. So, if you are able to donate $10, perhaps you'll consider $12.50 this time!

$100 : $125

$500 : $650

$1000 : $1250

$5000 : $6250

$7500 : $9375

...and so on!
